Day-Brite Capri Omega has opened the world's first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certified Lighting Education Facility.Â The DCO Lighting Institute is designed to educate visitors about the importance of quality lighting while highlighting the importance of energy conservation.

The DCO Lighting Institute, located within the company's factory in Tupelo, MS, will utilize products and techniques that represent the best lighting practices, balancing functionality, controllability, and energy consumption in accordance with IESNA/ASHRAE guidelines.

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, provides a suite of standards for environmentally sustainable construction.

Day-Brite Capri Omega has proudly obtained LEED Certification on the construction of the Lighting Institute and achieved the following goals:

40% reduction in water use
35% reduction of lighting power in addition to proper use of daylight and motion sensors
55% of construction materials used were manufactured within 500 miles of the facility
90% of equipment is Energy StarÂª rated
Low Emitting (VOC content) adhesive, paints and carpets were used

The DCO Lighting Institute will deliver:

The DCO Lighting Institute resides on our 500,000 square foot manufacturing facility which allows you to see fluorescent, downlight and industrial HID products being manufactured.

In addition, you will tour the newly renovated 200,000 square foot Distribution Warehouse which houses the largest industrial demonstration area where over 50 different aisle lighting systems can be compared in an actual working environment.
